George Papadopoulos, the young adviser to the Trump campaign, recently plead guilty to giving false statements to the FBI when he was questioned in the spring of 2016.  According to court documents, the London-based professor who has been at the center of the Russia dossier has been identified says the claims made against him are “incredible,” reports Fox News Insider.

Joseph Mifsud, is who The Telegraph has identified as the professor that supposedly spoke to Kremlin officials to get “dirt” on Hillary Clinton in the form of “thousands of emails,” says he has a “clear conscience.”

Fox News correspondent James Rosen reported on the details surrounding the Russia-linked professor saying that he promised Papadopoulos to introduce him too well-placed contacts within the Kremlin.  Then it is reported that Papadopoulos then tried to set up a meeting with then-candidate Trump, but was explicitly rebuffed by the campaign.

A senior member of the campaign, that is believed to be Paul Manafort, said that “DT [Donald Trump] is not doing these trips.”

The professor, who is the honorary director of the London Academy of Diplomacy, an affiliate of the University of Stirling in Scotland told the Telegraph that “he was ‘upset’ by the claims [about being privy to ‘dirt’ on Hillary Clinton] because they were ‘incredible.'”

Professor Mifsud also reportedly said that it was a “laughingstock” to suggest that he had introduced Papadopoulos to a “female Russian national” who was apparently a relative of President Vladimir Putin.

Rosen also said that the sentencing for Papadopoulos has been deferred and “ultimately conditioned on the degree of assistance that the state’s witness provides to the special counsel’s investigation.”

President Trump, however, has continued to take the stance that Papadopoulos was nothing but a simple volunteer for his campaign and there for wielding no great influence over the campaign and ultimately calling him a “liar” in a series of tweets.

Instead, Trump would prefer that Robert Mueller and the Justice Department look into what the Democrats involvement in all of this is and who is the main culprit of these unusual dealings with a foreign government to ultimately influence a Presidential election.
