It is clear that many Americans have lost faith in Robert Mueller and his team. Mueller, who is leading the special investigation into Russian collusion, has recently come under fire after being accused of “insider bias.” Two members of his team were removed after text messages showed brazen attacks on the president.
And now, Congress is taking note:
“‘We are now beginning to better understand the magnitude of this insider bias on Mr. Mueller’s team,’ said the chairman of the committee, Bob Goodlatte, a Republican from Virginia.
“‘I think the public trust in this whole thing is gone,’ said Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, who then urged the Justice Department to disband the Mueller inquiry.
“The text messages provided to Congress Tuesday night were between FBI agent Peter Strzok and FBI lawyer Lisa Page, who were romantically involved. They show ‘extreme bias against President Trump,’ Goodlatte said, and suggest that high-ranking FBI officials involved in the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server ‘were personally invested in the outcome of the election, and clearly let their strong political opinions cloud their professional judgment.'”
President Trump’s attorney, Jay Sekulow, has called for another special counsel int investigate the FBI and the Department of Justice. He claims the bias in the Robert Mueller investigation is overwhelming and must be addressed:
“These new revelations require the appointment of a special counsel to investigate,” Sekulow said. He said the call for another special counsel “has nothing to do with Bob Mueller or Mueller’s team.”
There is no doubt that Robert Mueller’s team does not like President Trump. But that doesn’t mean they can’t do their jobs effectively. So what do you think?
