Last week multiple polls emerged that confirmed Ben Carson had taken the lead in Iowa among the 15 GOP candidates still remaining in the race.
But among those polls was an outlier that teased the possibility he might actually take the lead nationally from Donald Trump who has led the field for over 100 days.
That reality appears to have been confirmed by a new NBC/WSJ poll which shows Carson leading Trump 29% to 23%.
What’s more, when combined with the numbers for respondents who indicated Carson as their second choice, his approval jumps to 50%.
Carson’s high positives continue to ride on the anti-establishment wave that has propelled both he and Trump to the front of the field.
Also, presumably on the heels of a strong performance in the third GOP debate, Sen. Marco Rubio jumped to a solid third place with 11% followed closely by Sen. Ted Cruz at 10%
