NBC insiders are reportedly sweating about the debut of Megyn Kelly’s new morning show. Following the short-lived run of her Sunday night program that didn’t even make it to the initial 10-episode run, NBC insiders are warry of her success for her new show.
Kelly’s new daytime show is set to premiere on Sept. 25th. The Daily Beast reported that NBC is worried that her history with FOX news and her recent show failure could mean that NBC’s morning audience will reject her outright.
NBC has had “questions internally about who her audience is exactly,” as well as a sense of “total panic” concerning the media scrutiny that Kelly will undoubtably attract when Megyn Kelly Today launches.
Kelly garnered controversy with the Alex Jones segment on her Sunday night show, in which he claims Sandy Hook was a hoax, which gained protests from the relatives of the Sandy Hook Elementary School victims.
$17 million was the reported gamble that NBC News Chairman Andy Lack gave to convince Kelly to leave Fox. Whether it was worth it has yet to be seen.
