An MSNBC report last week said that Florida Governor Rick Scott was “refusing to speak” with students who crowded his office on Wednesday calling for gun control, but the minutes later someone from Scott’s office called MSNBC to say that Scott wasn’t even in his office because he was attending the funeral for one of the Parkland high school shooting victims, reports The Washington Free Beacon.

Student’s have been protesting all over the state of Florida after the deadly aftermath of the high school shooting that left 17 dead. Students traveled to Tallahassee for a rally to call for action on gun reform. MSNBC was covering a large group of students who were crowded outside of Scott’s office and chants of “shame on you” and “hear the bill” could be heard.

Kay Tur was the reporter who was covering the protests at the time and she said that a “blonde woman wearing glasses” had told the students Scott was “too busy to meet with them today.”

“They flooded the governor’s office, and the governor is refusing to speak with these students,” Tur said. “These are students from across Florida. They’re students from Parkland … The survivors. It sounds like they’re not being heard.”

Tur then says that she is trying to understand what was going on over all the yelling from the students and see if they can get someone from Scott’s office to tell them what’s going on.

Then the “blonde woman with glasses” reappears except now we can see that she is wearing a “guns off campus” sticker and starts asking the students what they’d like to tell Scott if he were there.  Seems as though this woman who supposedly turned the students away is actually with the students.

“They’re asking the governor to do something about rifles, to do something about assault weapons, to stop looking into immigration so much, and to focus on what is the issue that they’re there to talk about: weapons. Their lives,” Tur said.

Six minutes later into their coverage of the protest, Tur comes on and says that MSNBC has just received a phone call from Scott’s office that says he would be meeting with a group of Parkland students for 20 minutes each at 5 p.m. that day.

“Right now, he is not in the office. He is at the funeral, I believe, for a student,” Tur said. “That’s why he cannot meet with those kids right now. Obviously, they’re not happy about it. Those kids are still inside that office. They want to be heard. We’ll see if they wait there until 5:00 today.”

But then another MSNBC host, Ali Velshi, decides to tweet that Scott is ignoring the students and is “too busy to meet with them” even though he was at a funeral the entire time.

Leave it to liberal news network MSNBC to report on facts they have not gotten confirmed so it can paint a Republican lawmaker in a negative light, even while he is attending the funeral of a student who was mindlessly murdered at a school shooting.  It’s disgusting and MSNBC needs to stop their inaccurate reporting.
