According to The Denver Post, apparently, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi had to advise her Democratic caucus before the State of the Union address and made some deranged comments. Her so-called ‘strategy’ clearly backfired as Trump’s speech was well received and Democrats looked like spoiled children.

“Let the attention be on his slobbering self,”
Pelosi told members during a closed caucus meeting, according to a Democratic aide in the room who was not authorized to discuss internal discussions publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

There were Democrats in her caucus that were apparently considering walking out in the middle of his speech, to which Pelosi said, “If you want to walk out, don’t come in.”

Pelosi understood that by making a spectacle, it would only distract from the Democrat’s rebuttal, which was made by Joe Kennedy III at Fall River, Massachusetts city on Tuesday night.

Because of low expectations, Trump was likely to get high marks no matter what, Pelosi added.

“If his nose isn’t running and he isn’t burping, he did a great speech,” she said.

No Democrats were seen milling around the floor of the House like the 30 or so House Republican members that were all vying to get the opportunity to shake Trump’s hand as he walked down the center aisle before his speech.

Not only did Pelosi give the Democrats a warning before the speech, but the women a part of the caucus wore all black to the address, in order to show support for the #MeToo movement and some women were even wearing the #TimesUp pin as well that were seen at the Golden Globes award earlier this month.

It’s amazing that these Democrats didn’t have the amount of decency to think to remain respectful while the president gives his first State of the Union.

Not only were the Times Up pins worn but a number of lawmakers from the Black Caucus also wore pins that said “RECY” on them which is meant to draw attention to the story of an Alabaman black woman, Recy Taylor, who was gang-raped by a group of white men in 1944.

The story of Recy Taylor was also recently brought up during Oprah’s acceptance speech at the Golden Globes awards this year and has become a new sounding cry to bring attention to women of color who have not only been sexual assaulted or abused but also the fact that their perpetrators are never held to answer for their crimes.

Plenty of these silent forms of protests have happened before and is not new to the Hill, but walking out on the president in the middle of their speech is just plain disrespectful and it’s incredible that they had to be reminded of that fact.
