During a town hall meeting, Rep. Matt Cartwright (D-PA), made a tasteless ‘promise’ regarding Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and his recent serious health issues.  When Cartwright spoke about the recent health care reform bill that is underway, he made a disgusting promise about how McCain will choose wisely since he is “staring death in the face,” reports Town Hall.

The Graham-Cassidy health care bill has been been debated among everyone recently, from late night TV show hosts like Jimmy Kimmel, to Republican holdouts like Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK).  Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has already voted not to the bill.

The vote for the bill is set for next week and apparently some Democrats think that John McCain will side with them because he has brain cancer.  Cartwright noted that the Governor of Arizona, Doug Ducey, has said he supports the bill, which McCain says will weigh on his decision to vote.

“John McCain I’m worried about,” said Cartwright. “But man, something tells me McCain—he’s staring death in the face right now, so he’s probably going to make good choices,” he added.

After realizing his tasteless and insensitive remark about McCain, Cartwright issued a statement apologizing to the senator and reaching out to McCain’s family directly to apologize.

Hopefully now the Representative will think twice about making remarks about a man who is fighting for his life and not use it as leverage for a political move.
