A new exit poll released by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) indicates Donald Trump doubled the amount of support from Muslims that Mitt Romney received in 2012.
CAIR polled 2,000 registered Muslim voters, 90% reported they voted in the election. 74% voted for Hillary Clinton and 13% for Donald Trump.
While 13% isn’t any reason to spike the football, Mitt Romney only had Muslim support in the single digits in 2012.
“Muslim were more energized and engaged this election than ever before, turning out in record numbers,” said CAIR Director of Government Affairs Department Robert McCaw.
Compared to the 2012 elections, in which Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney received a single digit percentage of the Muslim vote, Trump received nearly twice that amount of support.
CAIR is a notoriously anti-Republican group with ties to terrorism. The fact that they admitted Donald Trump achieved so much Muslim support, even at a paltry 13%, must have been difficult to swallow.
