President Trump made some powerful statements in his first joint address to Congress last night. In fact, he said many things that if Democrats weren’t so blind with hatred for the man, they would probably support those initiatives. One of their worst moments was when the president discussed illegal immigration. There are policy differences to be sure, but there should also be places to find common ground. For instance, there really should be no opposition to supporting aid for victims of crimes committed by illegal aliens. After all, who is against protecting American citizens and helping those in need?
Democrats groaned loudly when Trump announced the creation of Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE), an office which will fall under the purview of the Department of Homeland Security.
“I have ordered the Department of Homeland Security to create an office to serve American Victims. The office is called VOICE –- Victims Of Immigration Crime Engagement. We are providing a voice to those who have been ignored by our media, and silenced by special interests,” said Trump.
A chorus of groans rippled through the audience at the joint session of Congress.
Would they have groaned if someone like the family of Kate Steinle’s were sitting there?
