A Democratic senator called out their own party for a fundraising email with the misleading subject line special counsel Robert Mueller was about to be “fired,” reports The Daily Caller.

“I’m so furious I can barely write this email,” a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee fundraising e-mail purportedly from House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Friday. While the subject line declared, “Mueller FIRED,” only after clicking into the e-mail does the potential donor read: President Donald Trump “is inches away from firing Robert Mueller and derailing the entire Russia investigation.”

The party should not send such misleading headlines, Hawaiian Democratic Sen. Brian Schatz said in a tweet Monday. “We have to be able to convey a sense of urgency without being tricky,” Schatz wrote.

Various news outlets have speculated for months that Trump may be on the verge of firing Mueller for his investigation into Russia’s attempts to influence the 2016 election, but especially after his stunt with raiding Trump’s personal attorney, Michael Cohen’s, office.

Trump has said over and over though that Trump has no plans to fire Mueller, even as his investigation is reportedly probing various aspects of the Trump Organization, the White House maintains.

“My Republican colleagues are actively HELPING him,” Pelosi’s fundraising e-mail said. “They’re jeopardizing our democracy, our national security, and the safety of every election we hold. Frankly, they can’t be trusted.”

“I need a MASSIVE 24-hour fundraising surge to send them a powerful message: If they let Trump fire Mueller, we’ll kick each and EVERY one of them out of office,” Pelosi said.

Trump views Mueller’s investigation as a disgrace and a waste of time, the president said. “We’ll see what happens. Many people have said, ‘you should fire him,’” Trump said after the Cohen raid. “Again, they found nothing, and in finding nothing, that’s a big statement,” Trump said, referring to the fact the special counsel has not reported evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian actors.
