CBS just announced the have fired one of their top lawyers after she mocked the victims of the Las Vegas shooting. Hayley Geftman-Gold was a powerful vice-president at the network. On her social media, which has now been deleted or marked private, she said she is “not even sympathetic” to the victims becuase “country music fans often are Republican.”

CBS released this statement a few minutes ago:

“This individual, who was with us for approximately one year, violated the standards of our company and is no longer an employee of CBS. Her views as expressed on social media are deeply unacceptable to all of us at CBS. Our hearts go out to the victims in Las Vegas and their families.”

Gold previously worked at MTV Networks and studied at Columbia Law School. Below is a screenshot of her Facebook page. The Daily Caller was the first to point out her radical statement which read:

“If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Repugs will ever do the right thing,” wrote Geftman-Gold on Facebook, perhaps referring to Sandy Hook. “I’m actually not even sympathetic bc country music fans often are Republican gun toters.”

Ironically, another CBS employee found himself in hot water after another shooting in which the GOP congressional baseball team was attacked, resulting in the wounding of Rep. Steve Scalise, among others. Anchor Scott Pelley questioned whether Republicans deserved to be shot, musing whether the attack was “foreseeable, predictable and to some degree, self-inflicted.”
